MOMENT OF TRUTH
A lot of effort went into electing Pam Williams and Rick Ernest in the 2023 Board of Directors election. Their main campaign promises are being put to the test when the vote on Thursday( September 28). Ms. Williams came to us from the Villas the weaponized counsel tried to exclude her from running as she was such an advocate. The Villas’ Reserves were underfunded and homeowners got slammed with a special assessment. Well our SCA Main Reserves are underfunded and this 2024 Budget cycle pending board approval deserves a NO vote from Ms. Williams. We need a new board majority elected in 2024 and hopefully Ms. Williams becomes a part of it that is financially responsible and respects the rule of law. The jury is still out. Thursday’s vote will give us a clue.
Rick Ernest campaigned on “Follow The Money”. There have been a number of issues that have come up where he has had an opportunity to vote and stand by his principles. But none is more important than Thursday’s vote on the 2024 Budget. Mr. Ernest has been very vocal about having a “One Sheet” that lays out ALL the costs of the restaurant on a monthly basis so that homeowners can get a transparent monthly read on what the restaurant is actually costing SCA homeowners. The ” One Sheet” ought to be tied to the 2024 Budget so that variance analysis is easily tracked. That includes utilities and insurance allocations. What are the 2024 monthly Budget numbers for these allocations. Where are the staff hour allocations or direct charges for cleaning, maintenance, publicity/promotion/communications? If Mr. Ernest has not been successful in having this in place he ought to vote NO on the 2024 Budget not only on this issue but also on the Underfunding of the Reserves, These are “Follow the Money” key issues.
So it is the moment of truth and let’s hope these board members are true to their campaign rhetoric as their votes will be critical in 2024 with hopefully a new board majority emerging that will change the SCA board culture under Berman influence and return SCA to financial strength and good administrative governance.
Restaurant deficit financing contributing to underfunded reserves coupled with the need for accurate and complete restaurant monthly accountings are real issues.
Absolutely agree!
