OMG…HERE WE GO AGAIN…ANOTHER PET PROJECT!

My blog wasn’t up and running at the time of the restaurant decision making process nor the theater renovation decision process. Both of these endeavors were spearheaded by board members and others who had a passion for their pet projects. And the financial results and project oversight of the restaurant and theater construction have been disappointing with cost overruns as well as other financial and operational issues as expressed by homeowners.

There is another pet project brewing. Awhile back there was an Information Technology report that the SCA computers and systems were not compatible. When self management was implemented, systems were built to take over from a management company. And the systems apparently just weren’t designed properly. And now the systems are antiquated.

Board member Rick Ernst when he was a candidate proposed outsourcing accounting as a way to improve work product as well as save money. In the broadest sense accounting consists of homeowners records including assessments and fines and fees as well as the fund accounting for operations with payables, receivables, payroll , fixed assets , Reserves, banking reconciliations and financial statements. He got it right. Management companies and other outsource candidates already have the integrated systems available. No need for SCA to recreate the wheel. But this board majority rejected that concept.

So what is brewing now is the desire of a couple board members to take on their pet project as middle managers and purchase and build new integrated systems. I NEED YOUR HELP! This is insane, expensive and not worth the effort and filled with so many risks when all we have to do is outsource. SCA will save hiring people needed to build and maintain systems plus not needing to purchase new hardware and build in redundancy. And Sandy Seddon( on paper) in charge? No way. Cost overruns and mismanagement galore. And as technology and systems evolve the outsource company will upgrade.

No need for SCA to reserve for replacements. No need to have employee issues as payroll is reduced lessening HR involvement.

I plead with SCA homeowners who formerly were BUSINESS, IT,HR, FINANCIAL and ADMINISTRATIVE workers and executives and ANYONE with COMMON SENSE LOGIC to speak up now and email, call or confront current board members especially Barry Rubinson, Bruce Stanley, Steve Anderson and David Meredith to not create anymore financial nightmares in their last 45 days as a board majority. They have done enough damage. We must stall this until the new board majority is in charge to allow this pet project to die a permanent natural death.

Elections matter. MARSHALL, LEIBSON and QUINN. Ballots are being mailed Friday! Get your friends and neighbors ready to vote. We can do this!
Until next time….Robert
